Top 20 Vented Stretch Film Manufacturers: Who Is Best for Which Load?

20 Best Vented Stretch Film Manufacturers (2026)

Last updated: September 2026

The best vented stretch film manufacturers include POLIFILM for carriage-specific choices, Plastotecnica for macro and microperforation, and DUO PLAST for blown-film construction. Produce, warm-fill and chilled pallets need different combinations of airflow and containment. Match the quoted grade to your wrapper and carton ventilation, then compare how it performs on the wrapped load.

In manufacturing, process control is key to preventing issues down the line. This is especially true with perforated pallet film, which can allow heat to escape around a load and still lead to problems on the packing line. There are a number of potential issues with the product, such as a stretched opening, overlapping layers, or a roll that is intended for a different wrapper carriage. This guide lists the major distinctions between producers of perforated pallet stretch film, and assists customers prior to their purchase.

Disclosure: This guide is published by UD Packaging. UD Packaging supplies industrial stretch film and publishes application guidance for vented-film selection, but its current public information does not establish in-house vented stretch film production. For that reason, UD Packaging is not included in the 20-manufacturer ranking below.

Quick Picks: Match the Manufacturer to the Pallet

How We Selected These Vented Stretch Film Manufacturers

How We Selected These Vented Stretch Film Manufacturers — UD Packaging

Film suppliers qualify for this list based on perforated pallet-film products offered for sale, and evidence of their own film production. Google results, official company pages, technical documents and public 2026 materials were checked on September 30, 2026. Same-group brands were consolidated, and the information presented reflects the headquarters of each company.

The scope excludes distributors, sourcing agencies, equipment-only businesses, ordinary-film-only producers and companies offering only pallet netting or perforated primary food packaging. Solid stretch film, shrink wrap and stretch hoods serve different jobs. For the underlying material explanation, read our guide to airflow through perforated pallet wrap.

Published dimensions and settings for named film grades

Roll dimensions and settings define a specification. In this context, the comparison of roll widths does not indicate the compatibility of carriages. The values are taken from websites of the manufacturers and describe the different roll formats. The manufacturers disclose some details of the roll formats they produce; request the supplied format for your wrapping trial.

The length of rolls stated on the cards is the actual roll length and not an approximate number of pallets. The geometry of the openings in the film is determined by stretch settings. Rolls of different formats of the same grade should be specified separately in a wrapping trial.

European Film Technology Specialists

European Film Technology Specialists — UD Packaging

European specialists in this group publish useful distinctions between film bases, hole patterns and carriage settings. Megaplast, POLIFILM, DUO PLAST, Plastotecnica and Galloplastik each offer actual perforated pallet film; their different constructions explain the application matches below.

1. Megaplast: Best for reinforced macroperforation across different wrapping systems

Headquarters: Marousi, Greece · Founded: 1995 · Type: specialist film manufacturer

Official website: https://www.megaplast.gr/

Main products: AirOFilm reinforced perforated hand and machine stretch film.

Megaplast develops reinforced pallet films and publishes AirOFilm as its perforated range, with Greek production facilities identified in its sustainability report. The AirOFilm portfolio includes hand application, machines without prestretch and named 150%, 200% and 250% prestretch formats, so a buyer can compare a family of vented constructions rather than one nominal roll.

Reinforcement strips and large openings make this an application-led shortlist for produce, chilled goods or warm loads where an outer wrap must allow air movement while retaining the pallet. Its procurement constraint is the separation between formats: changing the carriage or stretch program can require a different AirOFilm grade, even when the material carries the same brand name.

2. POLIFILM: Best for separating brake-carriage and powered-prestretch purchases

Headquarters: Cologne, Germany · Founded: 1972, group origins · Type: film manufacturing group

Official website: https://www.polifilm.com/

Main products: BREATH ML and AIR 250/28 perforated pallet stretch film.

POLIFILM gives buyers an unusually clear starting point because its official product page separates BREATH ML for brake and semi-automatic wrappers from AIR 250/28 for equipment with prestretch devices. BREATH ML has 13 rows of holes with a published unstretched diameter of 1.5 cm, while AIR 250/28 starts with 2.5 cm holes and permits a different stretched opening size.

That distinction helps a warehouse purchasing team specify the actual film path and carriage before discussing roll price, especially when different wrapping machines share one stockroom. The limitation follows directly from the range: a BREATH ML roll and an AIR 250/28 roll should have separate item codes and machine recipes, rather than being treated as interchangeable perforated stretch wrap.

3. DUO PLAST: Best for blown-film construction in ventilated hand and machine wrapping

Headquarters: Lauterbach, Germany · Founded: 1983 · Type: blown stretch-film manufacturer

Official website: https://duoplast.ag/

Main products: DUO AIR macroperforated blown stretch film, hand and machine rolls.

DUO PLAST connects DUO AIR to its own production history, which dates manufacturing of the product in Lauterbach to 2020, rather than presenting only a trading catalog. Its product sheet lists a 13 micrometre, 420 mm hand roll and machine formats of 13, 23 and 26 micrometres, with widths of 420 or 450 mm.

Buyers interested in a blown-film base can therefore compare specified roll formats for dairy products, beverages, plants or refrigerated loads without borrowing dimensions from DUO’s ordinary stretch-film lines. Macroperforation creates an open outer layer, so this construction suits ventilated unitization but cannot provide the enclosing weather or contamination barrier of an intact film sheet.

4. Plastotecnica: Best for choosing between macro and microperforated film grades

Headquarters: Bagnoli di Sopra, Italy · Founded: 1983 · Type: packaging-film manufacturer

Official website: https://www.plastotecnica.com/

Main products: Webfilm A/AM, B and D perforated pallet stretch film.

Plastotecnica’s Webfilm range makes the hole design part of the product choice: A/AM and B are macroperforated, while D uses microperforation. According to the company’s grade descriptions, A/AM addresses manual wrapping or machines without prestretch, B supports prestretch up to 150%, and D supports up to 250%; reinforced-only Webfilm C is a different construction.

The useful distinction for a packer is the combination of perforation and stretch range, particularly when the same operation wraps delicate horticultural loads and regular cartons on different machines. A/AM is not the powered-prestretch option, so purchasing by the Webfilm family name alone can select the wrong material even though the manufacturer offers a suitable grade elsewhere in the range.

5. Galloplastik: Best for brake and low-prestretch reinforced wrapping

Headquarters: Chioggia, Italy · Founded: 1992, company registration · Type: film and netting manufacturer

Official website: https://www.galloplastik.it/

Main products: MACROPLAST hand and machine macroperforated stretch film.

Galloplastik manufactures packaging materials and supplies technical sheets that connect its perforated-film offer to actual wrapping-machine conditions. MACROAUTO P/2 has seven reinforcements and six perforation lanes, with a listed 460 mm width, 76 mm internal core and 1,500 m roll length, which gives an equipment team a concrete format to assess.

Its sheet explicitly describes automatic wrappers with low or no prestretch, below 60%, making this a useful candidate for brake carriages and machines that do not impose a high stretch ratio. That application statement is the purchasing boundary: the separate 60% guaranteed-prestretch figure should not be used to approve MACROAUTO P/2 for a substantially higher powered-carriage setting.

Mediterranean and Agricultural Film Producers

Mediterranean and Agricultural Film Producers — UD Packaging

Dunia Pack, DENELPACK, Ecoventi, Konika and Tama combine perforated-film offers with different agricultural or industrial packaging ranges. The relevant purchase is the named film construction, especially where a catalog also contains nets, factory-prestretched rolls or ordinary stretch film.

6. Dunia Pack: Best for reinforced cast film in machine wrapping

Headquarters: Gualdo Tadino, Italy · Founded: Not publicly disclosed · Type: stretch-film manufacturer

Official website: https://www.duniapack.com/

Main products: reinforced perforated machine stretch film.

Dunia Pack describes an integrated film-production chain and a reinforced perforated machine product based on a seven-layer cast construction. The published 450 mm format puts its offer in the pallet-wrapping category, with ventilation supplied through the film rather than a separate net or a primary produce bag.

A machine-wrapping operation can place this product beside other reinforced constructions and compare how the cast base, perforation layout and overlap behave around its own cartons, including edges and gaps that concentrate tension. The cited perforated format is machine film, so a site purchasing hand rolls as well as automated-wrapper stock needs separate product selections instead of assuming that one roll format can cover both workflows.

7. DENELPACK: Best for die-cut LLDPE film on ventilated food and produce pallets

Headquarters: Athens, Greece · Founded: 1998 · Type: cast-film manufacturer

Official website: https://www.denelpack.com/

Main products: AERIAL E4D reinforced perforated hand and machine film.

DENELPACK identifies its own cast-film production facilities in Thiva and offers AERIAL E4D as a die-cut, reinforced product made with octene-based linear low-density polyethylene. Although a web-like appearance can resemble pallet netting, the product starts from film and retains film sections between the openings, according to the manufacturer.

Food and produce packers can consider the hand and machine formats where cooling air must reach the load through the surrounding wrap and carton openings. Large perforations reduce enclosing coverage compared with a solid sheet, so the useful trade-off is ventilation with a suitable containment pattern; the wrap should not be selected as a substitute for sealed primary packaging or external protection against dirt.

8. Ecoventi Sistemas: Best for flower and horticultural pallets with dedicated vented grades

Headquarters: Cieza, Murcia, Spain · Founded: 2006 · Type: perforated-film manufacturer

Official website: https://ecoventisistemas.com/

Main products: Ecoven macroperforated film and flower-oriented wrapping grades.

Ecoventi Sistemas concentrates its Ecoven range on macroperforated film and presents flower applications alongside machine products carrying 300, 250 and 225 grade designations. This product structure is useful for a nursery or horticultural shipper that needs to distinguish the way a plant pallet is wrapped from a conventional, tightly squared carton load.

A flower-oriented film offer gives the buyer a more relevant starting point than a generic stretch-film catalog, particularly when foliage, pot geometry and ventilation routes influence the wrap pattern. The machine grades have different stretch ranges, so the numerical designations belong to the selected product; they should not become a single stretch setting applied to every Ecoven roll across the operation.

9. Konika: Best for comparing reinforced stretchable and already-prestretched constructions

Headquarters: Çerkezköy, Turkey · Founded: 1972 · Type: flexible-packaging film manufacturer

Official website: https://konika.com.tr/

Main products: Ultra Perfore Highline and 6Mic PreLine perforated stretch film.

Konika’s perforated portfolio separates reinforced Highline constructions from the already-prestretched 6Mic PreLine product, which is presented for manual and machine application. Its own page describes 300% and 200% reinforced stretch options, providing a basis for discussing different film constructions rather than transferring a high-performance ordinary-film figure into the vented range.

Buyers comparing film technology can use that distinction to separate stretching done at the factory from stretching imposed by the wrapper, especially where operator effort and machine behavior both affect the purchasing decision. Highline and PreLine need different wrapping programs: feeding a factory-prestretched construction through an aggressive stretch recipe changes the operating case and defeats the purpose of choosing that specific format.

10. Tama: Best for choosing perforated film alongside an agricultural netting range

Headquarters: Kibbutz Mishmar Ha’Emek, Israel · Founded: 1950 · Type: agricultural film and netting manufacturer

Official website: https://www.tama.co.il/

Main products: Netfilm Macroperforated 40%, Macroperforated 250% and manual vented film.

Tama produces agricultural packaging materials and has a distinct perforated-film offer alongside pallet netting, which allows a grower to consider both constructions through one manufacturer’s product range. Its US product pages identify Macroperforated 40% for brake or low-stretch machines and a separate Macroperforated 250% prestretch product, rather than treating a woven net as the qualifying stretch film.

A packing site that already handles net products can compare this film family without losing the distinction between a continuous perforated web and an open net structure. The 40% film is the low-stretch machine option, so a powered wrapper requires the appropriate separate grade; existing familiarity with Tama netting does not determine which film fits the carriage.

North American and Southeast Asian Film Producers

North American and Southeast Asian Film Producers — UD Packaging

Wrap-Tite, WP Innova, Wellspring Packaging and RESPACK provide distinct regional sourcing routes. Their useful differences include distributor formats, packaged-food application scope and produce-oriented roll choices. Company headquarters identify the business; the specific production and grade remain part of the material selection.

11. Wrap-Tite: Best for North American distributor programs needing hand and machine formats

Headquarters: Solon, Ohio, USA · Founded: 2004 · Type: film extruder and converter

Official website: https://www.wraptite.com/

Main products: vented hand film, vented machine film and pallet netting.

Wrap-Tite describes its extrusion and converting operation, and its own vented-film sheet lists hand and machine products separately from netting. Published hand rolls include a 17 in width and 1,500 ft length, while the machine offer includes a 19 in width and 3,250 ft length, giving distributors tangible stock formats for different customer wrapping routines.

The wider industrial packaging catalog makes this a practical procurement route when a distributor combines breathable pallet wrap with other shipping consumables rather than placing every purchase directly with a specialist European film producer. The company’s sales program is distributor focused, so an end user’s buying route to the manufacturer can involve a channel partner.

12. WP Innova: Best for secondary wrapping of packaged-food pallets

Headquarters: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada · Founded: 1998, Canadian company · Type: packaging-film manufacturer

Official website: https://wpinnova.com/

Main products: AirFlow perforated pallet stretch film.

WP Innova, also identified as Western Plastics Canada, manufactures packaging film and presents AirFlow as a vented option for unitizing loads where air circulation matters. The company’s 2026 food-contact statement places AirFlow in non-food-contact palletization of prepackaged foods and describes its use as a secondary or tertiary packaging component.

That documented scope makes this a useful choice to examine for processors moving packaged goods through chilling, storage or distribution while keeping the primary food package separate from the outer pallet wrap. AirFlow is not intended or approved for direct food contact, so a food-business purchasing team should preserve that restriction in its material specification rather than converting a food-pallet application into a direct-contact approval.

13. Wellspring Packaging: Best for growers needing separate hand and machine rolls

Headquarters: Little Rock, Arkansas, USA · Founded: 2016, current company history · Type: produce-packaging manufacturer

Official website: https://wellspringpackaging.com/

Main products: BreatheWrap LiteStretch Extend hand film and PowerStretch machine film.

Wellspring’s current company description identifies manufacture of vented stretch wrap and a produce-focused range that also includes pallet netting and produce bags. Its vented hand-film listing names LiteStretch Extend at 50% stretch in a 1,000 ft roll, while PowerStretch machine film is listed with 250% elongation and a 3,540 ft format.

Growers and packers supplying retail produce can therefore consider separate hand and machine products through a company whose stated market includes North American agricultural customers, without assuming that the listed headquarters is a US film factory. The machine figure is labeled elongation, which alone does not establish an approved powered-carriage setting; the roll’s operating specification remains distinct from its advertised ability to extend.

14. RESPACK: Best for regional sourcing from a Malaysian cast-film group

Headquarters: Sungai Petani, Kedah, Malaysia · Founded: 2011, group · Type: plastics and film manufacturing group

Official website: https://respack.com.my/

Main products: AirMax perforated pallet stretch film.

RESPACK’s history dates the group to 2011 and the creation of Respack Polyfilm, its cast-stretch manufacturing business in Gurun, to 2014. AirMax appears in the group’s specialty stretch-film portfolio as the perforated product, which gives a regional purchaser a named film to discuss rather than relying on RESPACK’s broader resin or packaging activities.

Southeast Asian buyers seeking a Malaysian production route can place AirMax on a trial shortlist where an outer pallet film must permit air passage and still work within the plant’s containment program. AirMax selection requires its own machine specification: a stretch figure, recycled-content claim or construction detail published for a different RESPACK film series does not automatically describe the AirMax material being quoted.

Chinese Vented Stretch Film Manufacturers

Chinese Vented Stretch Film Manufacturers — UD Packaging

There are six Chinese manufacturers of perforated pallet-film who meet the requirements based on the descriptions of their factories. There are many different, prestretchable and already pre-stretched, machine and hand constructions. Rolls of different formats and dimensions should be specified separately in a wrapping trial.

15. Jiamei Plastic: Best for direct factory sourcing with explicit prestretch-state choices

Headquarters: Ruian, Zhejiang, China · Founded: 1987 · Type: plastic-film manufacturer

Official website: https://jiameiplast.com/

Main products: JMSH01 prestretchable and JMSH02/JMSH03 already-prestretched vented film.

Jiamei identifies its Ruian factory and uses product names that distinguish ventilated film intended for further stretching from film that has already been prestretched. JMSH01 is the prestretchable product, while separate JMSH02/JMSH03 listings describe the already-prestretched construction, making the state of the supplied roll a visible part of the inquiry.

That distinction is useful for an importer comparing film for powered equipment with film purchased for hand application or a lower-stretch program, because the same perforated appearance can conceal different material histories. Prestretchable and already-prestretched rolls are different products, so the buyer’s purchase order should preserve the grade identity instead of combining both constructions under one generic ventilated stretch-film description.

16. CANBON: Best for separating factory-prestretched hand and machine purchases

Headquarters: Ruian, Zhejiang, China · Founded: 1995 · Type: packaging-film manufacturer

Official website: https://www.canbon.cn/

Main products: PPS machine film and pre-stretched vented hand and machine film.

CANBON describes its own film factory and provides separate product routes for perforated PPS machine film, pre-stretched machine film and pre-stretched manual film. The product split gives a purchasing team clear categories for an inquiry that includes both warehouse hand wrapping and machine unitization, rather than treating perforation as the only specification.

An importer can use these categories to separate sample requests by application, with the manual product assessed for handling and the machine product assessed against the carriage and film path that will actually use it. PPS and pre-stretched formats need separate specifications, so approval of one CANBON roll does not approve the other construction or remove the differences in how tension is introduced during wrapping.

17. Shuangzhong / GooYon: Best for reinforced machine and prestretched hand-film sourcing

Headquarters: Taicang, Jiangsu, China · Founded: 2004, business origins · Type: protective-packaging manufacturer

Official website: https://www.goodypacking.com/

Main products: GY-SWH reinforced and GY-SRH perforated machine film; prestretched manual film.

Shuangzhong identifies its Taicang production base, established in 2018, and GooYon as the brand for its carton and pallet protective materials. GY-SWH includes a perforated film with reinforcement stripes and a stated 250% stretch rate, while GY-SRH uses a different hole layout and is listed for machine delivery; a separate hand product is already prestretched.

Factory sourcing teams can therefore compare specific constructions while keeping the 2004 business history separate from the newer production-base date. The two machine constructions have different perforation layouts, so the quoted GY-SWH or GY-SRH model matters to airflow and wrap behavior; switching between them is a material change rather than a simple brand substitution.

18. Shanghai Pudi: Best for quoted roll formats in perforated pallet-film imports

Headquarters: Shanghai, China · Founded: 2006 · Type: plastic-packaging manufacturer

Official website: https://www.pdpacking.com/

Main products: breathable perforated pallet stretch film.

Shanghai Pudi describes its own Fengxian factory and includes a dedicated breathable pallet-film product within its stretch-film series, rather than relying only on ordinary plastic wrap. The specific listing names a 50 cm width, 23 micrometre thickness and 1,420 m length, making a quoted roll size the most useful starting point for an overseas purchase.

For a buyer comparing import quotations, those dimensions provide a concrete product reference that can be matched against roll handling, the wrapper’s available width and the way the perforated film passes through its carriage. The listed format still needs a matching machine setup: a 50 cm roll’s physical fit and nominal thickness do not establish how its holes or reinforcement behave at a different stretch setting.

19. Shenzhen World Packing: Best for factory enquiries for perforated hand and machine film

Headquarters: Shenzhen, China · Founded: Not publicly disclosed · Type: film and tape manufacturer

Official website: https://www.tape-film.com/

Main products: hand and machine vented pallet stretch film.

Shenzhen World Packing’s vented-film page identifies the company’s Vented Stretch Film Production Line A and presents perforated stretch film for pallet packaging. That product-specific production reference describes the industrial film supplier’s vented wrap alongside its general tape and standard-stretch catalog.

The hand and machine offer gives import buyers a route for discussing perforated pallet-film formats alongside other packaging consumables, while keeping the actual film construction central to the sample request. Open perforations require separate protection against weather and dust when the shipment needs it, so the breathable outer wrap should not inherit the barrier claims associated with other solid films in a broad packaging portfolio.

20. Ameson: Best for vented-film sourcing alongside protective-packaging supply

Headquarters: Xiamen, China · Founded: 2006 · Type: protective-packaging manufacturer

Official website: https://amesonpak.com/

Main products: hand and machine vented stretch film.

Ameson places its main manufacturing operation in Xiamen and describes dedicated vented-film production lines, with hand and machine versions offered for breathable pallet packaging. The named vented-film range sits alongside the company’s cushioning equipment, ordinary film and other protective-packaging products.

A purchasing team that consolidates several protective materials can consider Ameson for vented wrap while keeping each material’s application and specification separate, particularly when a shipment uses both outer pallet wrap and inner cushioning. Powered-prestretch selection needs the specific machine grade, so a general machine-film quotation is only a starting product category; it does not establish the carriage ratio or wrap program for the delivered roll.

How to Specify Material, Ventilation and Load Containment

How to Specify Material, Ventilation and Load Containment — UD Packaging

For a finished pallet, specify vented stretch film by the required path of air, the function of the wrapper stretch mechanism, and the kind of containment needed during handling. A perforation pattern is not invariably sufficient to satisfy all these needs. The assessment should evaluate sample material on representative loads under the intended ambient, cooling, storage and transport conditions.

Establish whether ventilation is needed

Generally, loads are analyzed with their packaging, and perforation patterns are evaluated in the intended wrapping conditions. For example, some fruits and vegetables may need to exchange CO2 with the atmosphere. Likewise, a product may require the removal of heat or chilling. Each has a different reason to vent the outer layer. If the product’s primary package or closed cartons obstruct the air path, do not assume that perforating the pallet wrapper would restore the path for heat removal.

For a given load, the path of air movement must be determined. Carton vents, tray spacing and the pallet stack must line up with the intended circulation. The type and amount of cooling required by a load depend on the nature of that load and the available air circulation. A manufacturer’s product literature may indicate a use to investigate; however, it does not establish a guaranteed temperature profile.

Solid film may still be an option when it is more important to enclose the shipment than to provide air exchange. The behavior of material before perforation is addressed in our document on conventional stretch-film properties.

Specify holes before and after stretching

“Macro” and “micro” describe different perforation approaches; neither establishes one universal open-area percentage. POLIFILM’s perforated-film specifications illustrate why measurement state matters: BREATH ML lists 1.5 cm holes before stretching and a maximum 2 cm diameter when stretched, whereas AIR 250/28 lists 2.5 cm before stretching and up to 8.5 cm when stretched.

Those dimensions pertain to particular products, and should not be attributed to all vented film. State the shape and spacing of the holes, as well as the reinforcing band design. Refer to the state of stretch of any quoted open areas. A supplier’s photograph of an unstretched roll will not demonstrate the final opening on a fully wrapped pallet.

Overlap changes the result again. An opening in one turn can sit behind solid material in the next, while reinforcement bands can cross a carton vent. Describe the actual number of turns and overlap pattern in the trial record, then inspect whether the final wrap leaves useful openings where the load needs them. This is a physical airflow-path check, not a substitute for measuring the load’s cooling response.

Match film to the wrapper carriage

A brake carriage tensions the film differently from a powered-prestretch carriage, and a factory-prestretched roll arrives with part of its elongation history already established. “Machine grade” is therefore too broad for a purchase order. Plastotecnica’s Webfilm grade descriptions separate A/AM for machines without prestretch from B and D options with different prestretch ranges.

Advise the supplier of the wrapper make and model, the type of carriage, the prestretch setting, and the wrapping speed. Include the desired roll width, usable outside diameter, core inside diameter, and expected roll weight. Roll width, core inside diameter and outside diameter determine physical fit, while the path of the film and carriage determine the method of stretching the material. A compatible core size cannot make an unsuitable construction tolerate the required recipe.

The MACROAUTO P/2 sheet is a concrete example: it lists a 76 mm internal core and 460 mm film width, but also explicitly describes low or no prestretch below 60%. Both kinds of information belong in approval. Record film breaks, tracking, starts and tails during the trial; these affect line efficiency even when the roll fits the holder.

Test containment and tear behavior on the actual load

Removing material by perforating a plastic film alters the paths of tension. Reinforcement bands distribute tension around openings; however, they do not establish a universal rating for a unit load. An ordinary film’s puncture-resistance result cannot, on its own, describe how a cut edge or existing hole will propagate a tear during wrapping.

Maintain consistency of the pallet pattern and the case of shipping when assessing candidates. Evaluate the unit load after wrapping, after the expected waiting period and after representative handling. Watch for leaning cartons, crushed corners, loose upper layers, film separation around openings and damage at sharp edges. Pay particular attention to film tails. Heavy pallets and irregular bags can concentrate force differently from a squared carton load of the same total weight.

Approval of containment should state the conditions that the pallet must withstand in the buyer’s distribution system. The comparison of methods for unit-load containment describes how different methods of unit load consolidation, including wrapping, are to be integrated.

Check the cooling profile and food-use scope

Ventilation and food contact are separate questions. An outer film can suit the palletization of packaged foods while being unsuitable for contact with exposed food. WP Innova’s AirFlow statement dated 2026 expressly says the film is not intended or approved for direct food contact and identifies secondary or tertiary packaging of prepackaged foods.

Note the conditions of the load, the temperature of the surrounding air, and the positions of the load from which temperature readings are taken. For comparison, evaluate equivalent carton stacks and methods of wrapping. A cooler surface of a wrapped load does not necessarily mean that the center of the load reached its target temperature, and an open wrap does not guarantee that condensation will disappear when a cold load enters warm humid air.

Require documentation describing the finished quoted grade and end-use. Resin status, a supplier’s general activities in the food-chain, or a statement on clear Low-Density Polyethylene, do, at the present time, not apply exceptions to the restrictions on the supplied film. Maintain the integrity and separate roles of the primary package and outer pallet-film layers during material approval.

Decide which barrier properties the load still needs

Perforated film allows the transmission of air and also reduces enclosing coverage. Therefore, packaging with vented film should not be considered totally protective against moisture, dust or contamination. Assess which protective packaging layer meets the shipment’s remaining protection requirements while preserving ventilation.

The package and wrap layers should be maintained independently. A product may be protected by a carton, while containment is provided by perforated pallet wrap; in that case, a cover film can alter the air path intended for the system. A covering, edge protector, or additional wrap layer should be assessed against the whole system.

During assessment of this balance, consider shipments of plants and produce, as well as shipments of pharmaceuticals. Transparent film may keep labels visible for identifying the shipment; however, transparency will not satisfy a barrier specification.

Compare cost per accepted pallet

Comparing prices is not enough to evaluate rolls of different dimensions, stretch states or reinforcement. The best comparison is a “load that is admitted to transport” (wrapped pallet), that is, a load that carries the required contents and meets the conditions and requirements of transport without requiring additional “wrapping” (i.e. rewrapping). It is important to consider the roll’s value-to-use ratio. A very cheap roll may break and lead to loss of the contents transported or require additional turns.

The same procedures used to evaluate a given roll should be used to compare rival rolls. Record and compare the total consumed film, the loads completed and rejected, wrapping time and duration, and delays. The delivered price of material should also be reported. The core of the roll should not be considered film. Record-keeping for hand and automated wrapping should be kept separate, as the conditions of the film and the operator may vary.

“High-quality” film is not a specification. Cling, roll format and load security belong in the trial record used to approve a secure pallet. A strong result on ordinary film does not approve the vented grade for heavy pallets, fresh produce or frozen foods.

Lighter constructions can be efficient when they maintain the approved wrapping outcome. They can also fail when downgauging leaves insufficient material around a perforation or carton corner. Compare the acceptance results before changing the recurring order, and keep the trial sample’s grade identity attached to the quote. Our film-construction trade-off comparison gives context for that material choice.

Check recycled content and product documentation

Internal recycling by the company does not establish recycled content in a specific vented grade. A claim of an “eco-friendly stretch film” portfolio requires a defined product, material basis and planned end-of-life route. When stating recycled content, ask if the claim is for post-consumer or pre-consumer content, and if it applies to the product grade in question.

Approval should include the technical data sheet, a traceable grade or item code, the production entity and application restrictions. Where certification matters, read its scope and validity: ISO 9001 concerns a management system, not a universal certification of film strength, recycled content or food-contact suitability. A certificate for one site also does not automatically cover every group plant or sales office.

When imports are repeated, retain a reference sample and verify the supplier has agreed to tolerances for roll format and film. Evaluate whether the material conforms to the approved specification, including perforation geometry and performance at the intended stretch setting. General statements on the supplier’s capability to manufacture the product (plastic wrap) are not an approval basis.

FAQs About Vented Stretch Wrap

Which is the best vented stretch film manufacturer?

The best vented stretch film manufacturer depends on the airflow requirement, pallet load, wrapper type, perforation pattern, containment target and storage conditions. POLIFILM separates brake and powered-prestretch grades, while Plastotecnica offers macro and micro options. Begin with that fit, then compare the supplied grade on your own load. This list does not award a universal performance winner. Include roll format, carton vents and shipping conditions in the trial request so suppliers compare the same operating case.

Is vented stretch film the same as perforated stretch film?

The terms overlap substantially, but manufacturers may use them for different hole patterns and constructions. One quote may mean large reinforced openings; another may describe smaller holes or an already-prestretched roll. Specify the hole design, open area, roll dimensions and wrapper carriage rather than ordering by name alone. Pallet netting is a separate construction and should be identified separately. Ask whether the film is supplied already prestretched or intended to stretch in the carriage, especially for automated wrapping.

What is vented stretch film used for?

Vented stretch film is mainly used when palletized goods need airflow to release heat, moisture or gases during storage and transport. Common applications include produce, plants, hot-fill goods and chilled products. Its suitability depends on the load, carton vents, wrap pattern and cooling conditions. A perforated outer wrap cannot compensate for a blocked carton or guarantee that condensation will disappear.

Is vented stretch film weaker than standard stretch film?

Perforation removes film area and changes load-containment behavior, but the practical difference depends on the film construction, hole pattern and wrapping program. Reinforced grades address that trade-off. Retest containment, tear propagation and transport stability instead of comparing nominal thickness alone.

Can vented stretch film run on automatic wrappers?

Some machine-grade vented films are designed for powered stretch wrappers, but compatibility depends on the specific film, carriage and prestretch setting. Confirm the roll width, core, diameter, film path, stretch setting and wrap speed with the manufacturer. Then trial the quoted grade on representative loads, recording breaks and containment. A low-stretch brake grade should not be substituted for a powered-prestretch grade merely because both have holes.

Are Chinese vented stretch film manufacturers reliable?

Some are, but country of origin alone is not a sufficient qualification criterion. Assess the actual factory, perforation process and supplied grade. Require consistent specifications, traceable samples and a successful wrapper trial before approving recurring supply. Check recurring batch consistency.
